Kabbalist Rav Berg was born in Williamsburg, New York into a family with a long rabbinical tradition. After studying at Beit Midrash Gavoha in Lakewood, New Jersey, Rav Berg was ordained at the renowned rabbinical seminary, Torah VaDaat, in Williamsburg.
In the spring of 1964, Rav Berg met his master Rav Yehuda Brandwein, author of The Steps of the Ladder, the commentary to the Tikkune Ha Zohar, and unquestionably the greatest Kabbalist of his time. Rav Brandwein provided the wisdom and guidance that enabled Rav Berg to make the transition from student to the most influential Kabbalist of this generation. And while it was with awe and wonder that Rav Berg agreed to carry the torch, it soon became his life’s mission to make the study of Kabbalah available to everyone.
Rav Berg and his wife, Karen, have been pioneers in declaring Kabbalah a source of spiritual knowledge for all humankind. They transformed The Kabbalah Centre from an exclusive place of study to an open forum of learning, for anyone interested in achieving self improvement through spiritual realization.
